Storm drain is where Slater started in 1980, and it is still the core of what we do. For 45 years we have dug, shored, laid and backfilled storm drain for the agencies, developers and contractors building out Southern California, and built the concrete structures that go with it.
What we build
- Mainline storm drain in reinforced concrete, HDPE and PVC pipe

- Catch basins and manholes on the same line, built by the same crew
- Storm drain for new tracts, street improvements and flood control projects
Who hires us
Public agencies and flood control districts hire us for storm drain improvements on public streets. National homebuilders and developers bring us in for backbone and in-tract storm drain on master-planned communities. General contractors use us as their storm drain sub on road, school and commercial jobs when they need a crew that shows up with its own equipment.
How we run the work
We self-perform. Our own crews run our own excavators, loaders and shoring, and we keep pipe and forming material stocked in the Fontana yard, so a line doesn’t wait on a rental or a delivery. Our estimators build a precise number from the plans, and our superintendents hold the schedule it was built on.
