The challenge
A city flood control project needed a reinforced concrete U-channel through a corridor already lined with homes, fences and mature trees. There was room for one machine in the channel and little space to stage forms or steel.
Our approach
Slater placed the base slab and lower walls first, then worked the walls up in staged lifts, tying the reinforcing cage and setting form panels for each pour while an excavator worked from the channel floor.
The outcome
A clean, straight concrete channel built without disturbing the neighbors on either side, by the same crews who have been building Southern California’s drainage for 45 years.
